Avatar- Jake Sully

Here's my first tribute to the greatest movie of all time -AVATAR.
I've been to see it five times at the cinema in 3d, and played the game to death. It's the best thing I've ever seen.
I've been wanting to do an artwork to capture the feel of it and take me back to pandora- I really wanted to do one of jake and neytiri riding the 'last shadow', but I haven't found any good reference material at this stage.
So, using references from the official movie posters for his face and putting him in armor and weapons copied from the game I was able to create a scene that for me, shows Jake after the battles, once his mohawk has grown back a little, and he's settled into na'vi life.
I wanted the scene all at night to start with so I could show the luminescent plants, but it was all too dark for the feel I wanted, so I decided on a sunset scene inspired by the scene at the tree of souls after hometree is destroyed, where they're all in cool shadow until they board their banshees and fly up into the sunset light. It also gave me the chance to still get some glowing plants in there in the dark.
I loved this movie, and I'm very pleased that this picture takes me back there a little. Enjoy.
