this was just a head practice in photoshop cos i felt like it. It was going to be a guy at first, then it started looking like a girl so i went with that. I thought i'd post the stages it wqent through to get there, just in case anyones interested. Basically i rough in the features, then erase and smudge in the lines that i want to keep. then start getting the shading in with a soft airbrush. Pretty much the entire process is just the soft airbrush to paint with and the smudge tool used copiusly to smear lines and alter features until it starts coming together. The smudge tool is brilliant. I use it once i've got the features roughed in to shape and mould my character like a piece of clay, then just use the airbrush to paint in refinements. All done in black and white until i'm satisfied, then i add a 'colour' layer, finishing up usually just with a 'levels' adjustment layer to get the tones right again over the colour layer. If you've got any more specific questions feel free to ask.

hehe, yeah it still surprises me sometimes. there's a point in the drawing process, i think when you finish the eyes, where it becomes a person staring back at you. it's pretty cool. i love drawing

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
