| Hi, my name is Jesse Cutler, I have always loved drawing, filling schoolbooks with sketches and cartoons (probably why i did lousy in class). I began to take my artwork seriously around the end of 2003, when, on a whim, i decided to do an airbrushing course. The course was a hit, it appeared i had a bit of a natural ability (hereditary i believe, i come from a long line of artistic folk on both sides of my family). The only problem i was having with the airbrushing, was- the course taught accurate reproduction of existing images (portraits, cars etc), but i wanted to create my own original artwork. Being an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi, i had all these ideas i wanted to get out. My uncle, a graphic designer by trade, suggested i get a graphics tablet. The idea being- use that to rough out my ideas, nail the composition and colours, before Airbrushing a final piece. The idea was a bit daunting, i was computer illiterate, and had no idea of the power or freedom of digital artwork. But i finally bit the bullet, saved up some cash and bought my first computer and a cheap 9x12" graphics tablet. That was the end of my Airbrushing career  After a couple of weeks of playing around with photoshop i was hooked. The airbrush was packed away, and i set about learning all i could about digital painting. Over the next few years, along with digital painting techniques, i have studied every aspect of traditional painting and drawing. From Anatomy to colour theories and perspective, and, as with every artist, it's an ongoing learning process. I strive to improve constantly. I hope you enjoy my work |
